F1 Dream is a great, "bird's eye view" racing game, initially developed by Capcom and released in 1988 on the arcades and a year later converted to the PC-Engine games console.

Review
F1 DreamSTORY / GAMEPLAY
Racing games usually are not based on a particular story. The thing is pretty simple: Choose your car and race to win against some of the best drivers in the world. Challenge your skills through a variety of gameplay modes and gain the big prize. The two-button 3-gears system is tricky enough and needs some practice at first, but eventually your attention will shift from the acceleration to the main driving. Also, note that steering you car is sometimes frustrating and depends on the terrain you race on! You have a limited number of laps in which you must overtake your opponents, stay on first place and finally win the race. The game is played from a bird's eye perspective (you see your car from above, like an...eagle back then...or a drone...today!).

GRAPHICS / SOUND
The game features colorful circuits and nicely done cars. The animation is smooth and the races are quite fast. I personally liked some tiny details such as the grass, the small hills and more. The game's sound is nothing special though it features in-game music and a few sampled (but "piercing") sound effects like the car's engine and the sounds of your brakes.
